About The Blackhawk Chorus
The Blackhawk Chorus began in 1991 with 12 women whose dedication to and fondness for music was exemplary. As word of the success of the group spread, the number of members continued to expand and in 1992, men were invited to participate.
We have a rich history of singing throughout the East Bay as well as around the world. In 2003, the Chorus represented the State of California at the American Music Festival in Austria and the Czech Republic. 2005 found us in Italy where we had an opportunity to sing at High Mass at St. Peter's Basilica in the Vatican.
2007 saw the Chorus "on the road again" with a performing tour throughout England, Scotland and Wales, where we will again visit in 2012.
In 2010, we performed at New York’s Lincoln Center.
Closer to home, we perform two series of shows each year; a Holiday Show in December of each year at multiple locations and a Spring Show, typically in May. We are fortunate in that we established a base of patrons that allows us to sell out our performances on a regular basis and after the "Standing Ovations" we strive to earn in each performance, we adjourn for the summer.
We sing, we learn, we travel, we play and most of all, we have fun!
